WCSX Rockin’ Wars Winners to Take Rockin’ on the Riverfront Stage
The 2014 Rockin’ on the Riverfront concert series, in its ninth season, will be unlike any other as local bands battled for their place on stage. Rock and roll bands competed in 94.7 WCSX Detroit’s Classic Rock’s first ever Rockin’ Wars for their shot to open for the headliners in this year’s free concert series, presented in partnership with Chevrolet, the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center and Metro PCS.
Local bands had the opportunity to upload a video of their performance to the 94.7 WCSX’s website, with only the top 20 entries posted and voted on by listeners. The online ‘battle of the bands’ then was cut to six top contenders, until the Rockin’ Wars was finally whittled down to three winners. The top three will open for some of the series biggest headliners AND THE WINNERS ARE:
- Driving Friday Montage opened for The Guess Who on July 11
- Danny D and the Vagabonds opened for Leon Russell on July 18
- Impossible Tuesday will perform before Starship on July 25.
All of the winning bands are based in Detroit.
